Company ProfileGary Deer & Sons is a family owned and operated business based in Jamestown, Ohio. Established in 1962 to provide bedding for nursery plants, Gary Deer & Sons soon became the leading provider of the highest quality in large livestock (horses, dairy cattle, etc.) bedding and arena footing in Southwestern Ohio. The company has been in continuous operation since it opened and is well known in the industry. Many of Gary Deer & Sons customers have been them for decades, some going back to the early 1970's. Several bedding haulers have come and gone, but Gary Deer & Sons is a well-established company, here to stay. All of the delivery trucks we use are powered by clean, efficient gasoline engines, not diesel, and are maintained by our own staff. This helps to keep overhead low and costs down. Management Owner Gary Deer, Sr. and his two sons, Gary Deer, Jr., and Gery L. Deer, operate the company. Company founder Gary Deer, Sr. is known to many in the Miami Valley of Ohio as the "Sawdust Man." Gary grew up around animals working his family farm as a boy in southern Ohio. His family farm, Freedom Farm, has produced everything from poultry to beef and feed corn to vegetables over the last 33 years. For 16 years Gary, Sr. was the senior agricultural mechanics instructor at the Greene County Career Center in Xenia, Ohio. Gary Deer, Jr. has worked with his father for the majority of his life. Educated as an architect, Gary Jr. is also a heating and air conditioning specialist providing home and small business HVAC support and repair. Gery L. Deer (pronounced "Jerry") assists with deliveries, mechanical support and provides marketing and web content. The News of Our Demise Is Exaggerated ...
We have recently received reports from customers in the central Ohio area that someone has been soliciting them to buy bedding by either claiming to be from our company or saying that we have gone out of business.
For the record, Gary Deer & Sons has NEVER closed, even temporarily. We have provided the same great service to our customers for more than 45 years and will continue to do so for as long as we can. We have only three employees, all of whom are named Deer, and no one else operates our equipment or has the authority to represent our company.
